Cookie Policy
What this site stores on your device.
A short answer: nothing that identifies you, and no analytics at all unless you agree to it. Here are the details.
Last updated: September 2026. This page explains the cookies this website uses, and when they are set.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. Some are needed to make a site work. Others watch how a site is used, or follow you around to target advertising.
Cookies we always set
These are needed for the site to work properly. None of them profiles you or follows you to other websites.
- cookieyes-consent: remembers your cookie choice so we don’t ask again on every page. Set by our consent tool, CookieYes. Kept for one year.
- Session and login cookies: set by WordPress only if someone signs in to manage the website. Visitors never receive these.
- A hosting cookie: our hosting provider may set one to keep the site fast and secure. It doesn’t identify you or track you across other websites.
Analytics, only if you agree
If you accept analytics cookies in our banner, we use Google Analytics to see which pages are useful and how people find us. That sets two cookies:
- _ga: tells one visitor apart from another using a randomly generated number. Kept for two years.
- _ga_4JNZTP5HDF: keeps track of your current visit to this website. Kept for two years.
We load Google Analytics through Google Tag Manager, which sets no cookies of its own. We don’t use analytics to work out who you are, we don’t sell the data, and we have switched off Google’s demographic and advertising features for this site.
Before you choose
Until you make a choice, analytics is switched off. No analytics cookies are set and nothing about your visit is stored against you. Google’s tag still loads and may record that a page was viewed, with no cookie and no identifier, so we can count visits roughly. This is how Google’s consent mode works, and it is the reason our visitor numbers are an estimate rather than a headcount.
Advertising
We don’t use advertising, remarketing or social media tracking cookies. If that ever changes we will list them here and ask you first.
Changing your mind
You can change or withdraw your consent whenever you like, using the cookie icon at the bottom of any page. Withdrawing consent stops any further analytics cookies being set. Cookies already on your device stay until they expire or you delete them, which you can do in your browser.
Managing cookies yourself
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Every major browser explains how in its help pages. Blocking cookies won’t stop you using this site.
